Germany backs India's strikes

NEW DELHI: Germany on Wednesday openly declared its support for India in its fight against terrorism .

Answering a question on the  recent Indian surgical strikes on  terror camps across the line of  control, Martin Ney, the German  ambassador said, "it is absolutely  clear that there are two norms in  international law governing this  issue (cross-border terrorism).      The first clear norm is that every  state under legal occupation should ensure that no terrorism is emanating from its territory.

"Secondly, there is a clear international law that any state has the right to defend its territory from any form of global terrorism ," Ney said.

In addition, he said "When it comes to counterterrorism, Germany stands side by side with it its strategic partner (India). And these (statements) are not empty words. It is quite clear in the political declaration signed by Prime Minister Modi and Chancellor Merkel," he said.

"I can assure you standing with India side by side against terrorism are not empty political words but backed with concrete projects," Ney said.

India has shown its eagerness to secure the early release of one of its soldiers, who was captured by Pakistani troops within the disputed region of Kashmir, where Delhi claims that it conducted surgical strikes on Thursday night.

Rajnath Singh, India’s Minister of Home Affairs, says, “All attempts are being made. The government will take up the matter with Islamabad for his early release.” However, it is not clear whether the captured soldier was involved in the airstrikes.

Indian Army sources had said “one soldier from 37 RR with weapon has inadvertently crossed over to the other side of the Line of Control. Pakistan has been informed by the DGMO on the hotline.”

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations Dr. Maleeha Lodhi confirmed to Al Jazeera that Pakistan’s Army had captured an Indian soldier who was trying to enter Pakistani territory. The matter of the soldier’s release had dominated the Friday’s high-level security meeting in Delhi, which was attended by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, officials from the defense ministry, para-military forces and home ministry officials.

Astronomers Discovered Largest Sample of 9 monster Stars

British astronomers have discovered largest sample cluster of nine monster stars named as R136 using NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope. The cluster is the largest group of very massive stars ever identified. The R136 cluster of monster stars have masses over 100 times and are 30 million times brighter than of our Sun in the star cluster located about 170,000 light-years away. It is located in the Tarantula Nebula within the Large Magellanic Cloud – a satellite galaxy of our own Milky Way. The young cluster hosts many extremely massive, hot and luminous stars whose energy is mostly radiated in the ultraviolet (UV).
